Happy Anniversary, PorchLight! This year, we proudly celebrate 15 years of service and thank all those who have teamed-up and grown-up with us.
So, we started to think why is our 15th year important? First, it’s neat to think of where we’ve started and what PorchLight stands for today. Our team has grown larger and stronger. Our services have expanded from locally to nationally. But our promise to better accommodate your rental needs in every way has remained the same.
But there’s something about the number 15 that requires something more. Something bigger, why? With further thought about the meaning of a decade and a half, we uncovered that the Rugby
Union is played with teams of 15 athletes. Lots of references to 15 minutes like 15 minutes of fame or 15 minutes to save on insurance. The most common celebration we found is 15 years of marriage which is commemorated by crystal. But almost any event can be celebrated in this way. There are named anniversaries for every year from 1 to 15:
1 year: Cotton
2 years: Paper
3 years: Leather
4 years: Fruit or flowers
5 years: Wood
6 years: Sugar
7 years: Copper or wool
8 years: Bronze or pottery
9 years: Pottery or willow
10 years: Tin
11 years: Steel
12 years: Silk or linen
13 years: Lace
14 years: Ivory
15 years: Crystal
But once you reach 15 years, a gap seems to form and the next recognized anniversary occurs at 20 years (by the way, china is the token gift).
Anyone up for celebrating every year like it’s important?
Why after years of listening and learning, trying and adapting, failing and succeeding should we stop honoring our efforts? In our business – in any business – every year should be reflected on. It’s the best way to grow for the better in a world with people, products and passions that change so fast it makes it easy to tweak and improve. Don’t you think? We do.
No question, there is strength in numbers. And what we see at PorchLight when we look into our crystal ball is years of award-winning service, long-term customer satisfaction, and new rental service innovations for our current and existing clients in the years to come. Here’s to another 15 years of celebrating for all involved.
“You can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do.”
