Another Success Story Combining In-Person
and Virtual Support
As we enter another week of restricted activity, customers continue to relocate and we continue to support their rental home finding needs. Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared stories of virtual service experiences and successful outcomes. This week’s story comes from Justin Kofoed moving for a position with L’Oreal from Washington state to New Jersey. Justin gave us permission to use his name and to tell his success story…
Justin, his wife, baby daughter and their pet pup were moving from Washington state to the Hoboken/Jersey City area of New Jersey. They were arriving in NJ to tour on March 10th, before most restrictions were in place.
PorchLight’s Rental Success Manager, Fran Lennon, connected with Justin to learn of his family’s housing needs. Justin and his wife and baby daughter were looking for a great area and a home that would allow their family dog. Fran certainly understood their needs and she understood the challenges that pets create when trying to secure a lease. With that in mind, Fran coached Justin on preparing a pet resume. This tool helps our customers have more success with landlords considering their rental application when they have more information concerning the pet.
Fran also selected the perfect PorchLight Rental Expert to manage the local search. Our local expert, Greg, has been in our network for over a decade and lived in Jersey City for over 10 years. Not only did Greg have the area insights Justin and his family would benefit from but Greg also has a dog! He understands the rental market and the importance of pet friendly housing.
Greg and Justin scheduled a call, became better acquainted, shared neighborhood insights, Justin provided properties he and his wife favored, and Greg provided others. Together, they created a plan. They met on March 10th and after a day of viewings, determined although they liked a property, they wanted to broaden the search.
Greg was able to quickly plan for another rental tour and another after that. As they learned the market better, they changed criteria and ultimately met with Greg 3 times before deciding on their new home.
Justin and his wife found a property that day and placed application. They could return to Washington and plan for the move. Upon their return, the relocation was delayed causing them to lose the property they selected. The good news is, as the decision to move was finalized, Justin and Greg worked together, virtually, to secure what turned-out to be an even better rental choice.
We’ll let Justin tell the rest of the story in his own words…
“We had the knowledge of understanding the neighborhoods, price points, etc. from our first home finding trip so we knew what we wanted. The unit we are now leasing came available 2 weeks prior to when we needed to move. We reached out to Greg and within 2 hours he secured an appointment to view the rental option, himself, the following day. Again, since we had already gone through this with him in person, he had the knowledge of what we were looking for and our best interest at hand. He sent over the virtual tour he did and advised that this fits our needs across the board with very few exceptions (we felt the same). That night we applied and the next day we were approved. Greg and Erika (Greg’s assistant) both provided a lot of support in this time of uncertainty and we appreciate that tremendously.”
In these uncertain times, one thing is certain…PorchLight will support you through to a new address.
