This is the actual subject line of a client email we recently received.
After 15 years of service (if you did the math, yes, this client has been with us since the very beginning), we said goodbye to one of our longtime relocation counselors. Not because they no longer needed PorchLight, but because she earned her way to retirement. So happy for her and it was our pleasure to serve.
We couldn’t be prouder of the service we provide to this Relocation Management Company. In fact, PorchLight has professionally and gratefully helped them transfer hundreds of new and existing employees across the nation. From a new college grad looking for a one-bedroom in a remote area of Kansas to a seasoned executive moving up the corporate ladder looking for a luxury home in Seattle—we’ve assisted them all. And then there was the transferee we saved from putting $3500 deposit down on a property scam. Or the owner of two pitbulls that was having a terrible time in Dallas finding a property to take his dogs. PorchLight found a creative solution and sought out area pitbull owner groups to help recommend properties that welcomed his whole furry family. It’s just what we do.
The opportunity to serve this client came thanks in part to this HR expert’s need and desire to help transferees with their ongoing rental-finding services.
But what is opportunity: and when does it knock?
According to self-help author Dr. Maxwell Maltz, opportunity never knocks. Many wait a whole lifetime, listening and hoping, and hear nothing. No knocks at all. Maltz theories stress “you are the opportunity,” and you must knock on the door leading to your destiny. You prepare yourself to recognize opportunity, to pursue and seize opportunity as you develop the strength of your personality and build a self-image with which you can live.
The client’s email went on to say, “I am really glad that I was able to help PorchLight ‘get off the ground’ and if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times – PorchLight is far and away the best rental company I have ever had the good fortune to work with! I wish you and everyone at PorchLight the very best, and my hope is that everyone at every relocation company everywhere discovers how awesome PorchLight Rentals truly is! Thank you for your many years of assisting my transferees!”
Here’s to a retirement filled with all the opportunity life holds.
